Abstract

This short essay and interview were published in the newsletter to accompany the exhibition The Second Shadow. Dozie Kanu Mirroring Marc Camille Chaimowicz, with Shared Echoes and Kindred Spirits at the ICA Milano / Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation, Milan, March-May 2026. The exhibition recreates a version of the installation Room for Jean Cocteau first exhibited at Norwich Gallery, Norwich School of Art and Design in September and October 2003. I had interviewed the artist with Lynda Morris for the ‘dispatch’ published for the Norwich show, and led a public Q&A with Chaimowicz at Cinema City: the essay briefly recalls this story, and then re-presents a section of the original artist interview, along with images from the Norwich Gallery installation.
