Abstract

This essay is part of the catalogue to accompany the major retrospective exhibition of the founding British Pop artist Colin Self at Norwich Castle Museum, April-June 2025: One Self: The Creative Life of Colin Self. The essay focuses on Self’s long-standing collage and assemblage practice, with particular reference to his use of everyday found materials and media in order to explore social, cultural, mythical and especially global political contexts.
